Hiking

St. Mary’s Glacier outside Idaho Springs, CO

St. Mary’s Glacier is a great family hike. With it being just outside Denver on Fall River Rd you can make it an afternoon trip or take a lunch and spend the day exploring. Nestled in the mountains in Idaho Springs, weather at St. Mary’s Glacier can be very unpredictable. Make sure to check the weather for that specific area as it can be very different than the weather on I-70. There are two pay parking lots ($5 per vehicle) to park at once you reach the trail head. The parking lots are located at the north and the south ends of the trail heads. Each parking lot has an outhouse. Good shoes are a must for this hike. It is a moderatly rocky 3/4 of a mile hike. Make sure to take water as well as you are much higher in elevation.
